Our Sustainability Commitment

We recognize our social and environmental responsibility and are constantly adapting to ensure we work sustainably, for the People and the Planet 🌏

As a third-generation Hospice (Gen3) we have a strategic leadership role to see and understand what is on and beyond our sector’s horizon: to see what others do not yet see.

One of our core strategic goals from 2023 to 2030 is to contribute to the well-being of the People and Planet. To ensure the success of this goal we set up a small team to kickstart our People and Planet project.

What we've accomplished so far:

  • Waste
    Removed 106 mixed bins and swapped them for 5 waste stations with a: recycling bin, compost bin, general waste bin at each station 🚮
  • Electric vehicles
    Leased 10 electric vehicles to add to our fleet 🚗
  • Printing
    Implemented numerous process changes to substantially reduce our printing 🖨️
  • Communications
    Created a digital bi-monthly internal People and Planet Newsletter 📰
  • Sustainable resources
    Swapped to compostable coffee cups and cutlery in our Aroha Eatery alongside prioritising the use of chinaware ☕
  • Growing food
    Started a small produce garden to help provide for our kitchen 🥕
  • 2degrees Business Awards (2024)
    We were named as a finalist in the 2degrees Business Awards for the 'Excellence in Sustainability' category 🍃
  • And so much more!!
